In Search of a King: From Pastor Ryan
Ask anyone today what’s wrong with the world, and they’ll be able to name something. In a time that feels so divided, we seem to agree on at least one thing: the world is not as it should be.
We see corruption and conflict, broken families and injustice, anxiety and loneliness. We see people searching for rest, peace, security, and purpose. We all know life could be better—but we have radically different ideas about what “better” actually is and how to get there. With so many voices telling us what’s wrong and what will finally make life better, the Bible speaks directly into this search.
It shows us that our problems—and the answers we need—run deeper than we realize. And one of the Bible’s surprising answers to our search for a better life is this: we need a King.
That may sound like the last thing we need. But the King Scripture leads us to is unlike any other king. And rather than simply telling us that we need him, God gives us a story that shows us why.
This fall, we’ll follow Israel’s search for a king—and through their story, discover the King we need to rule our hearts, lead us in what is good, and bring us into the life we were made for.
