Grace Changes Everything

We believe grace isn’t just about forgiveness —it’s about transformation. Grace changes hearts. Grace changes homes. Grace changes everything.

When you encounter Jesus, life doesn’t stay the same. His grace begins to heal. It reshapes your story. It renews your identity, your relationships, your work, and your worship.

We don’t want people to just hear about God’s grace—we want them to experience it. Everything we do points to this.

Our Vision

A movement of the gospel—where people encounter Jesus, grow through His grace, and multiply communities of worship, connection, and mission across Montgomery County and beyond.

Our Purpose

Leading people into joyful, growing faith in Jesus.

Our Core Values

1. Gospel Centrality

Every part of our story begins and ends with Jesus—the world He created, the life He lived, the cross He endured, and the victory He won. The gospel isn’t just how we begin following Jesus; it’s the truth that sustains, shapes, and sends us every day.

2. Biblical Transformation

We believe God’s Word and Spirit don’t just inform—they transform. God doesn’t leave us to stay the same. By grace, we are being changed, growing in Christ-likeness, day by day.

3. Whole-Life Worship

Worship isn’t part of life; it’s the posture of life. When grace grips our hearts, even the ordinary becomes sacred—our work, our relationships, our goals, our words – each a venue for bringing glory to the One who first loved us.

4. Grace-Filled Community

Grace makes room for all of us—the struggling, the hopeful, the in-between. We’re not a community of the perfect but of the forgiven—real people being healed, shaped, and renewed by grace. Experiencing God’s Grace is what drives us to keep showing up, keep encouraging, and keep welcoming others in until Christ completes what He’s begun in us. No matter your story, your past, or your doubts—there’s a place for you here.

5. Missional Living

The gospel doesn’t take us out of the world; it sends us into it. We’re sent—into neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and the world—to show and share Christ’s love in word and deed.

6. Next-Generation Investment

We believe young people aren’t just the church of tomorrow—they’re the church now. We invest in their faith, equip their leadership, and empower them to lead our church and the world into a future shaped by the gospel.

7. Kingdom Multiplication

Our aim isn’t to build Atonement—it’s to bless people. We exist to multiply disciples, plant gospel-centered communities, and carry the healing power of Jesus across Montgomery County and throughout the DMV. We long to see the grace of the gospel bring life and renewal to our neighborhoods, campuses, and cities—until every corner of our region reflects the hope and glory of Christ.

What We Believe

Rooted in Truth. Centered on Jesus. Shaped by Grace.

At Atonement, what we believe shapes everything we do—from the pulpit to the classroom, from worship to everyday life. These eight statements summarize the essential truths we hold to, in joyful unity with the historic Christian faith and the Westminster Confession.

1. The Bible

God Speaks. We Listen.

We believe the Bible is the living, infallible Word of God—true in all it says, trustworthy in all it promises, and authoritative in all it commands. Through Scripture, God reveals Himself and points us to His Son, Jesus Christ, the center of every story and the foundation of our faith.

2. God

One God. Three Persons. Infinite Glory.

We worship one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who created all things, rules all things, and sustains all things. He is perfect in holiness, steadfast in love, and worthy of all honor, glory, and praise forever.

3. Jesus Christ

True God. True Man. Our Only Hope.

Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became fully human without ceasing to be fully divine. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He conquered sin, satisfied justice, and opened the way for us to be reconciled to God. He now reigns as our Savior, Lord, and coming King.

4. The Holy Spirit

God With Us. God In Us.

The Holy Spirit gives new life, convicts of sin, and draws us to Jesus. He dwells within every believer, producing fruit, giving gifts, guiding us into truth, and sealing us for the day of redemption.

5. Salvation

By Grace Alone. Through Faith Alone. In Christ Alone.

We are sinners saved by grace—not by our effort, but by God’s mercy. Through faith in Jesus Christ, His righteousness is credited to us, our sins are forgiven, and we are adopted as children of God, heirs of eternal life.

6. The Church

God’s People. God’s Mission.

The Church is the family of all who belong to Jesus—united by the Spirit into one body. We gather to worship, grow, and serve; to hear the Word, share the sacraments, and live out the love of Christ in the world until He returns.

7. The Return of Christ

History Has a Redeemer.

Jesus Christ will come again—personally, visibly, and gloriously—to judge the living and the dead and to make all things new. We live in hope and readiness for that day when every tear will be wiped away.

8. The Mission

Sent by Grace. For His Glory.

Jesus sends His Church into the world to make disciples of all nations. Empowered by the Spirit, we proclaim the gospel with words and works—living lives of love, service, and sacrificial joy until the whole world knows His name.

9. Our Denomination

Atonement is part of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church—one of the oldest gospel-centered Presbyterian denominations in America. We share its commitment to biblical truth, reformed theology, and Christ-exalting mission. A fuller expression of the beliefs of Atonement and the ARPC can be found in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
